My Student Experience: College of Education Students Explore Educational Opportunities in Eastern North Carolina on We Teach for NC Spring Break

A group of College of Education students had an opportunity to explore schools in Lenoir and Perquimans counties as part of the We Teach for NC Spring Break. On the trip, they visited classrooms, spoke with administrators and had an opportunity to learn more about the opportunities available to teachers and students in eastern North Carolina.

My Student Experience: Teaching Fellow Charles Kellon Grows Leadership Skills as NC State Student Government’s Director of Equity and Accessibility

After joining NC State Student Government as the College of Education student senator last year, Teaching Fellow and elementary education major Charles Kellon decided he wanted to engage the campus community on a larger scale, which is why he was excited when he was presented with the opportunity to become the student-run organization's director of equity and accessibility.

My Student Experience: Elementary Education Major Abby Rinehard ’24 Explores Social-emotional Learning Preparation Through Presented Research Study

When Abby Rinehard ’24 first came to the NC State College of Education as an elementary education major, the idea of conducting research never crossed her mind. However, a selected course and an opportunity presented by Associate Professor Jill Grifenhagen led her on a path that allowed her to not only conduct her own research project, but present her findings at a statewide conference this past fall.

Whether they were constructing a cardboard pachinko machine to sort parts or teaching a history lesson about North Carolina lighthouses, the NC State students who attended this year's TEECA Eastern Regional Conference took advantage of the opportunities to showcase the creativity they will one day employ as technologists and educators.

My Student Experience: How Teachers Inspired Constantina Pappas to Publish a Fantasy Novel at 16, Choose Education

Constantina Pappas loves losing herself in the fantasy worlds of her favorite books. But she never expected she would publish a novel of her own at the age of 16. Now, an elementary education major at NC State, she is at work on her second novel and will also be part of the ensemble when NC State's University Theatre debuts Peter and the Starcatcher on Oct. 19.
