NC State College of Education Awarded Over $1M in Research Funding October-December, 2020

Faculty and researchers at the NC State College of Education, including the Friday Institute for Educational Innovation, were awarded $1,048,844 to support seven projects from Oct. 1 to Dec. 31, 2020. Total amounts reflect only the funding that was directly awarded to College of Education faculty and researchers.

The Sustainable Bioproducts and Bioenergy Program (SBBP) Adapts to COVID-19

The Sustainable Bioproducts and Bioenergy Program is a collaboration between NC State's College of Natural Resources led by Dr. Richard Venditti and the College of Education led by Dr. Margaret Blanchard. Currently, the program is focused on educational outreach in high schools, particularly those in rural communities. The SBBP team works with science teachers in these communities to provide distance courses, lesson plans, hands on workshops, and resources to promote sustainable practices using plant-based and renewable resources.

Professor Carla Johnson Leads the Development of First Handbook of Research on STEM Education, Featuring Contributions from College of Education Faculty

Several College of Education faculty members have contributed chapters in the recently released Handbook of Research on STEM Education, on which Professor Carla Johnson, Ed.D., served as lead editor. In addition to that work, Johnson has also helped pilot a new STEAM curriculum that is being piloted throughout China.
