When Kyanna "Kay" Sumpter came to NC State University as a Goodnight Scholar, she was looking for a community that would make her feel valued and a college that would prepare her to make an impact as a teacher. She found both during her time as a student in the NC State College of Education.

If it weren’t for financial support, Kyanna “Kay” Sumpter ‘22 would not be at NC State pursuing her dream of being an elementary education teacher with dual licensure in special education. Because of that support, she pays it forward by giving whenever she can.
