A Few Things We Did in Summer 2024

Students, faculty and staff in the NC State College of Education spent summer 2024 gearing up for a new academic year, leading and engaging in professional development, encouraging new students to join the teaching profession and traveling to other educational institutions around the world.

Department Head Kevin Oliver, Associate Professor Angela Wiseman Help Preserve Historic Russell School Through Virtual Tour, Alumni Interviews

In the early 1900s, more than 800 Rosenwald Schools – schools for Black students built through philanthropic donations and funds raised by activists – were built in North Carolina. To preserve their history, Kevin Oliver, head of the Department of Teacher Education and Learning Sciences, and Associate Professor Angela Wiseman, have created a virtual tour of the Historic Russell School.

Professor Kevin Oliver selected as 1 of 3 2022 UNC Faculty Fellows

Professor Kevin Oliver has been selected as one of three UNC System faculty members to serve as a 2022 UNC Faculty Fellow. As a fellow, Oliver will engage in special projects, review current literature, talk with innovative teaching faculty across the UNC System and national higher education, and investigate and experiment with new technologies.
