Hannah Watlington ’22 Named Caswell County Schools Beginning Teacher of the Year

When Hannah Watlington graduated from Bartlett Yancey High School, the only high school in Caswell County, she always knew she wanted to return there one day and teach. Now, after earning her bachelor's degree in mathematics education at the NC State College of Education, not only is she a math teacher at the high school, but she was also named the Caswell County Schools Beginning Teacher of the Year.

Doctoral Student Jennifer Mann Receives Phi Kappa Phi Literacy Grant to Further Work Using Critical Literacy to Address Inequities Among Refugee Students

Jennifer Mann, a doctoral candidate in the NC State College of Education’s Ph.D. in Teacher Education and Learning Sciences’ literacy and English language arts concentration, has been selected as one of 12 students nationwide to receive the Phi Kappa Phi Literacy Grant.

Hollylynne Lee, Distinguished Professor of Mathematics and Statistics Education at North Carolina State University, is the 2022 recipient of the prestigious national Robert Foster Cherry Award for Great Teaching, awarded biennially by Baylor University to recognize exemplary teaching by university faculty. As the recipient, Lee has spent the spring semester of 2023 at Baylor University.
