Jacqueline Perry-Higgs ‘21EDD: ‘I Have a Desire to Impact Teaching and Learning by Supporting Teachers and Administrators as They Diligently Work to Change the Lives of Children’

With a passion for curriculum and instruction, Jacqueline Perry-Higgs ‘21EDD joined the Northeast Leadership Academy’s first Ed.D. in Educational Administration and Supervision cohort. Now, she plans to apply what she learned in the program to her current position and to potential future roles as either an assistant superintendent or chief academic officer.

Ha Nguyen ’21PHD: ‘Education is the Key to Helping People Create a Better Life for Themselves’

As a college-level lecturer in Vietnam, Ha Nguyen realized she could reach more students in more classrooms by improving teacher performance. Now, with her Ph.D. in Teacher Education and Learning Sciences, Nguyen hopes to use the skills she developed in the NC State College of Education to increase educational access and quality for disadvantaged students in developing countries.

Frédérique Yova ‘21PHD: ‘I Hope to Continue to Advocate for Young Children and Their Families Through Research Focusing on Early Childhood Education and Early Mathematics’

Inspired by her time in the classroom, Frédérique Yova ‘21PHD decided to focus her research on elementary mathematics education. In the College of Education, she found a welcoming environment where she was able to strengthen her research skills and prepare to be an advocate for equitable access to early mathematics experiences for all children.

Ewarja Hinton ’21MED fell in love with education several years ago as a teacher assistant for an elementary school class. Now, as a supervisor, she has earned her Master of Education in training and development to create training programs to help her employees better learn and prepare for their own careers.
