College of Education Launches Fourth Interdisciplinary Research Hub with Focus on Civic Engagement

In line with its Strategic Plan: 2023-2030, the NC State College of Education has launched a fourth Interdisciplinary Research Hub. This hub, entitled “North Carolina Advancing Civic Engagement (NC-ACE),” will join three other hubs approved in 2023 in finding innovative solutions to pressing educational problems by bringing together individuals from different units and disciplines.

Faculty and researchers at the NC State College of Education, including the Belk Center for Community College Leadership and Research and the Friday Institute for Educational Innovation, were awarded $4,221,501 to support 11 projects from April 1 through June 30, 2022.

Book Edited by Associate Professor Chad Hoggan Explores the Role of Adult Education in Migration Societies

During an academic meeting to discuss research around migration, Associate Professor Chad Hoggan and more than a dozen other researchers noted that some of the most difficult learning challenges related to migration existed within the receiving society, rather than with migrants themselves. As a result of those conversations came Adult Learning in a Migration Society, a book co-edited by Hoggan in which scholars reflect on lessons learned from research on migration.
