Walking Out My Dream: A Day with NC State’s College of Education

Krista Glazewski, executive director of the Friday Institute for Educational Innovation, said that artificial intelligence has been sprinkled throughout education systems for decades. This includes things like adaptive testing, intelligent tutoring systems especially for math, and other programs that collect analytics and adjusts based on a student’s knowledge and skill level.

Inside Higher Ed: Tenure Clock Delays, A Debatable Fix, Popular Amid Pandemic

About four in 10 assistant and associate professors at public research universities reported that the pandemic disrupted their research “a great deal,” compared to just a quarter of full professors, according to a journal article published in Teachers College Record. The authors — Professor Paul D. Umbach, Professor Stephen R. Porter and Doctoral Student Chris William from NC State's College of Education — found that “men and women were equally likely to extend,” even though 40 percent of women reported “a great deal” of disruption compared to 29 percent of men.

Kirsten Hoeflaken and Ayelen Valeton are the recipients of the College of Education’s 2024 Dr. Louis D. Hunt Service Leadership Award, which recognizes two staff members in the college each year for exemplary service and leadership. Hoeflaken, the college’s university program specialist for knowledgement management and assessment, is the Dr. Louis D. Hunt Service Leadership Award SHRA Recipient; and Valeton, the college’s business operations manager, is the Dr. Louis D. Hunt Service Leadership Award EHRA Recipient.
