Grant Funding Enables NC State to Reach More Rural Communities

For this fiscal year, which began July 1, 2024, the NC State University Foundation awarded 10 grants totaling $427,003 to its affiliated colleges and units affiliated. These grants are supporting new and existing projects that might not have been funded otherwise, including two — one through the College of Education, one through the Poole College of Management — that will directly benefit North Carolinians living in rural areas.

Alumni Distinguished Graduate Professor of Science Education Sarah Carrier Shares Emerging Theory for School-Based Participatory Science through New Article

For the past four years, Alumni Distinguished Graduate Professor of Science Education Sarah Carrier has been collaborating with partners from Horizon Research, Inc. and the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences on a grant-funded project to provide elementary school teachers with curricular support and professional development in the implementation of participatory science that align with existing instructional goals and science standards. This work has most recently led to the publication of an article entitled “An Emerging Theory of School-Based Participatory Science.”

NC State Educational Leadership Academy (NELA) Receives $14.4M From North Carolina Principal Fellows Commission to Sustain Program through 2032

For the past 14 years, the NC State College of Education’s nationally recognized NC State Educational Leadership Academy (NELA) has been preparing some of the most effective school leaders in North Carolina. Now, that work is set to continue through 2032 thanks to more than $14 million in funding from the North Carolina Principal Fellows Commission.
