RALEIGH, N.C. — Lindsey Evans ’09, an eighth-grade social studies teacher at Apex Friendship Middle School, was greeted with a school-wide celebration May 10 after being named the 2019-2020 Wake County Teacher of the Year.
Evans, who graduated from the NC State College of Education with a Bachelor of Science in middle grades education, received the honor the previous day at a Raleigh Convention Center event honoring Teachers of the Year from all 187 Wake County Public School System schools.
Cheering students lined the halls as Evans, wearing a tiara, walked through the school and down the stairs to a waiting marching band.
Photos and video of the celebration were contributed by the Wake County Public School System and the News & Observer, respectively.
