Doctoral Student Mariam Elias ’17, ’20MED, ’24PHD Selected to Join the International Technology and Engineering Educators Association’s 21st Century Leadership Academy Class of 2024-25

Mariam Elias ’17, ’20MED, ’24PHD, a doctoral student in the Ph.D. in the Learning and Teaching in STEM engineering and technology education concentration, has been selected to join the International Technology and Engineering Educators Association (ITEEA) 21st Century Leadership Academy Class of 2024-25.

The purpose of the leadership academy is to prepare the next generation of technology and engineering education leaders, consultants and strategic thinkers.

“Being accepted into the 21st Century Leadership Academy is a recognition of one’s dedication, expertise and potential as a leader in the field of technology and engineering education,” Elias said. “Being part of the ITEEA’s 21st Century Leadership Academy Class of 2024-2025 will empower me to become a more effective leader.”

As part of the academy, Elias will have opportunities to network with colleagues and peers, connect with and learn from established leaders, participate in online and face-to-face leadership development activities, and work toward the overall advancement of technology and engineering education. 

“Participation in the 21st Century Leadership Academy is a holistic experience that goes beyond traditional professional development, offering a platform for growth, collaboration and leadership in the technology and engineering education sector,” Elias said. 

Elias was selected for her work toward creating effective learning environments across various educational settings, as well as her hands-on experience and understanding of STEM and graphics education. 

Trey Moore ’98MR, who earned his master’s degree in technical education from the NC State College of Education and has served as a K-12 technology, engineering, and design educator for over 25 years, was also selected to be part of the leadership class.
