Friday Institute Selects 2018 Graduate Student Fellows

The Friday Institute has announced its 2018 Graduate Student Fellows, which includes two Ph.D. students in the NC State College of Education. In all, there are three new Friday Institute Graduate Fellows who are dedicating time to providing access to education for all students, protecting people impacted by hazardous weather or improving the educational experiences of all learners. Each fellow will receive $2,000 to support their research.

EdNC.org: Join Us for the W. Dallas Herring Lecture at NC State

Each year, the NC State College of Education commemorates W. Dallas Herring and his dedication to the state's community colleges by hosting the Dallas Herring Lecture. Dr. Karen Stout, president and CEO of Achieving the Dream, will present this year's lecture "The Urgent Case: Centering Teaching and Learning in the Next Generation of Community College Redesign" on Wednesday, Nov. 28.

Stanford Associate Dean and Professor Shelley Goldman Receives 2018 Friday Medal

The associate dean for faculty affairs and professor at Stanford University was recognized by the Friday Institute for Educational Innovation for her work in design thinking and her commitment to inspiring educators and organizations to take risks, solve complex problems and collaborate to build an equitable education system. Goldman is the 13th recipient of the Friday Medal.
