Students are chosen in part due to outstanding academic performance as well as other factors including: demonstrated interest in the program, responses to short answer questions (as part of the CODA application), and performance in specific coursework, particularly in the STEM areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Minimum requirements for Elementary Education:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Completion of 12 or more NC State graded credit hours, and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A 2.75 overall GPA<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Preferred requirements for Elementary Education:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>3.0 overall GPA<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Meeting the requirements does not guarantee admission to the desired major.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have questions, contact a College of Education Academic Advisor at&nbsp;<a href=\"tel:919-515-0595\">919-515-0595<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Website:&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/studentservices.ncsu.edu\/your-degree\/coda\/ced\/\">https:\/\/studentservices.ncsu.edu\/your-degree\/coda\/ced\/<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>External Transfer Students<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To be considered for admission into Elementary Education at NC State, the minimum requirements are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An Associate of Science degree (AS)&nbsp;or&nbsp;approximately 60 credit hours of transferable college-level work that include the requirements below:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>3.2 overall GPA and above<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Two semesters of English Composition equal to NC State\u2019s ENG 101<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>8 semester hours of college-level Mathematics including the equivalent of NC State\u2019s MA 121<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Biology and an 8 semester hour sequence of Science in Chemistry or Physics<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Preference is given to students whose course work most closely aligns with credit hours identified in the <a href=\"https:\/\/admissions.ncsu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2017\/09\/13ELEMEDSTM_92017.pdf\">NC Community College Four-Year Pathway Plan<\/a>. Acceptance will be extremely competitive and on a space-available basis only. Admitted students are required to complete ELM 250 in Summer Session II.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>More information about the external transfer process at NC State can be found here:&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/admissions.ncsu.edu\/transfer-students\/\">transfer admission website<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students seeking to transfer to our program should contact the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/ced.ncsu.edu\/undergraduate\/undergraduate-student-success-and-advising-center\/\">Student Success and Advising Center<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">For the Middle Grades Education: English Language Arts &amp; Social Studies (MSL) program<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Internal NCSU Students<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Minimum to apply and be considered:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Completion of 12 or more NC State graded credit hours<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cumulative GPA must be &gt; or = to 2.75<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>External Transfer Students<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>NC State Undergraduate Admissions employs a holistic approach in reviewing transfer students\u2019 applications and considers a range of accomplishments and qualifications. While competitive transfer applicants should meet the following, these alone do not guarantee admission:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Coursework Recommendations for Competitive Applicants<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please note: Statistics cannot be used to meet the Math requirement<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Strong cumulative GPA for all transferable college work previously attempted<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>30 semester hours (or 45 quarter hours) of transferable credits (Qualifying AP scores can be used to meet transfer admission coursework requirements)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Eligibility to return to each institution previously attended<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>UNC-system Minimum Course Requirements, if 21 and under or have less than 24 transferable hours at the time of the application<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Attempted coursework through NC State University\u2019s Non-Degree Studies Program (NDS) must have a minimum GPA of 2.0 or higher in order to be considered for admission<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>2.7 overall GPA in the teaching field (English and History courses)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For more information, see the <a href=\"https:\/\/admissions.ncsu.edu\/apply\/admission-review\/transfer-admission-review-process\/north-carolina-community-college-students\/\">NC Community College Four-Year Pathway Plan<\/a>.
