Why Gifts Matter: Providing Extraordinary Opportunities for Future Teachers<\/h3>\n \n\n \n\t \t

Currently, there are five active endowed Extraordinary Opportunity Scholarship Initiative scholarships in the College of Education. In 2025\u201326, 13 undergraduates from across the college were awarded scholarships from those five active endowments. Marrielle Myers ’07MED, ’14PHD Spreads the Love of Math and Reading Across Durham Public Schools<\/h3>\n \n\n \n\t \t

Marrielle Myers ’07MED, ’14PHD, a tenured professor of mathematics education at the Clarice C. and Leland H. Bagwell College of Education and recently elected president of the Association of Mathematics Teacher Educators (AMTE), has authored two children\u2019s books on early numeracy for her series Marlee Loves Math. Now, thanks to Hollylynne Lee, a Distinguished University Professor of mathematics and statistics education in the NC State College of Education and Myers\u2019 former professor, elementary students will get to experience the love of math through a donation of Myers\u2019 books to all 32 elementary schools in Durham Public Schools.\n<\/span>\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\n\t\t<\/svg><\/span><\/p>\n\t \t \n <\/div>\n\n <\/a>\n\n \n
