Mike Steadman

Bio

Mike Steadman, a Rutherfordton NC native, rejoined NC State in 2019 as the Admissions and Recruitment Coordinator for the College of Education. Steadman, a 2014 graduate of the university, developed a passion for working with college students while serving abroad in Cape Town, South Africa in 2014. Following his stint abroad, Steadman joined the NC State College Advising Corps, where he worked with low-income, first-generation, and underrepresented high school students as they navigated the college application process.

Burdened by a desire to see his students succeed at post-secondary institutions, and troubled by the lack of rural representation in higher education; Steadman enrolled in the Masters of Science in Higher Education Administration program at Florida International University where he developed a greater knowledge of access and choice in higher education programs.

Steadman currently works with pre-college students as they navigate the college application process, manages relationships with high schools across the state, and plans signature recruitment events for the College of Education.
