Bio

Dr. Barry Olson serves as an Associate Vice Chancellor for the Division of Academic and Student Affairs at NC State University. He oversees University Housing, Leadership and Civic Engagement, Student Involvement, Fraternity and Sorority Life, and the full suite of Business Administration units: Facilities Planning and Management, Finance, Human Resources, and DASA Tech Services for the Division. He earned his bachelor’s degree in speech communication from the University of Wisconsin River Falls, his Master of Education from Grand Valley State University, and his Doctor of Education degree from North Carolina State University in 2010, focusing on higher education administration. His research interests include racial identity and its incorporation in the collegiate experience, student affairs administration, and facilities management. He serves as a Professor of Practice in the Educational Leadership, Policy, and Human Development (ELPHD) program through the College of Education, where he teaches courses in the administration of student affairs, as other elements of higher education.
