Horner joined the College of Education as executive director of development in April 2017 after serving as the executive director of annual giving at NC State for eight years. She has a wealth of major and annual fundraising experience from Penn State, Duke Medical Center and NC State. She successfully led the $12 million Financial Aid Initiative at Duke, and led the NC State annual giving team to increase annual gifts by 200 percent during her tenure.She has built a staff and comprehensive programs to increase and steward NC State gifts and donors in all constituencies — alumni, parents, faculty and staff, students, and Chancellor’s Circle members who give $1,000 or more. For the College of Education alone, annual gifts increased 300 percent.Horner completed her bachelor’s degree in English at the College of Charleston, and then earned her Master of Education in Higher Education at Penn State. Before entering Advancement, she worked in admissions and as a legal assistant.
