Research expenditures are often used to compare levels of externally funded research across universities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the same time period, College of Education researchers also received $20,774,223 in external grant funding to support new research projects, bringing the total number of active research projects to more than 210.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cYear after year, our researchers prove their commitment to conducting impactful research that improves teaching, learning and leading,\u201d said Associate Dean for Research and Innovation <a href=\"https:\/\/ced.ncsu.edu\/people\/kfholleb\/\">Karen Hollebrands<\/a>. \u201cThrough their externally funded projects and outreach, they are reshaping education from preschool through adulthood\u2014making a meaningful difference for students, educators, schools and communities.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Faculty and researchers across NC State\u2019s College of Education continue to deepen their impact through grant-funded work that addresses evolving educational needs. Rooted in practice and focused on pressing educational issues\u2014including workforce readiness, STEM education, technology, literacy and leadership development\u2014their work is making a difference in every corner of North Carolina and beyond.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Examples of grant-funded projects that faculty engaged in the past year include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/ced.ncsu.edu\/news\/2025\/01\/28\/nc-educational-leadership-academy-nela-receives-14-4m-from-north-carolina-principal-fellows-commission-to-sustain-program-through-2032\/\"><strong>$14.4 million for the nationally recognized NC State Educational Leadership Academy (NELA)<\/strong><\/a> to extend their work and continue preparing effective school leaders and developing school partnerships through at least 2032.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/ced.ncsu.edu\/news\/2024\/09\/11\/college-of-education-researchers-to-integrate-cybersecuirty-with-math-science-lessons-through-2-million-grant-funded-project\/\"><strong>$2 million to Professors Florence Martin and Jessica Hunt<\/strong><\/a> to develop an innovative professional development program that helps elementary teachers infuse cybersecurity lessons into math and science instruction.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/ced.ncsu.edu\/news\/2024\/09\/18\/six-college-of-education-students-prepare-to-address-teacher-shortages-by-becoming-math-science-educators-through-nc-state-stem-education-scholars-program\/\"><strong>$1.2 million to Associate Dean Karen Hollebrands<\/strong><\/a>, Assistant Teaching Professor Matt Reynolds and Associate Teaching Professor Cyndi Edgington to prepare 21 math and science teachers for school districts facing shortages.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The NC State College of Education consistently ranks among the top colleges in the world for research productivity.
