It\u2019s why she spearheaded the Sharing Shelf, which provides food and toiletries to students, staff and faculty within the college, no questions asked.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe have so many people in the College of Education who give their all. Staff, faculty and students are working together to achieve these big dreams. With so much focus on dreams and goals, food insecurity should be the last thing anyone worries about,\u201d said Spain, who provides administrative support for the <a href=\"http:\/\/v\">Student Services and Advising Center<\/a>. \u201cThe Sharing Shelf is a no-judgement way to give people an extra assist when they need it.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Spain relaunched the Sharing Shelf in the kitchen area at the College of Education\u2019s Center for Technology and Innovation (CTI) location last year as a way to make sure the College of Education community has access to essential items they may need. It\u2019s providing some opportunities for our Elevate students to have experience working with us. This is truly a win-win,\u201d College of Education Dean <a href=\"https:\/\/ced.ncsu.edu\/people\/psztajn\/\">Paola Sztajn<\/a> said during a ribbon-cutting ceremony on March 30, 2026,&nbsp; for the new Sharing Shelf location in Ricks Hall.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cHaving two locations allows us to reach more people and provide more support,\u201d Spain said.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Sharing Shelf, which is run in addition to NC State\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/packessentials.dasa.ncsu.edu\/feed-the-pack\/\">Feed the Pack Food Pantry<\/a>, includes shelf-stable foods such as quick meals, snacks and breakfast foods, as well as personal care essentials. Those who wish to utilize the Sharing Shelf can do so discreetly and plastic bags are available to help carry items.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Sharing Shelf operates on donations, which can be dropped off at either the CTI or Ricks Hall location, or purchased from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/registries\/gl\/guest-view\/RVS4Z15ZIQUF\">online wishlist<\/a> and delivered directly to the College of Education.
