Because the college received at least 600 gifts, an anonymous alum and former mathematics educator made a $50,000 gift to support students as they prepare to become extraordinary educators who will make a mark across North Carolina and beyond.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cGifts allow our college to significantly support students, while also allowing for&nbsp; continued impactful and innovative work from our faculty and staff. They truly enable us to put the university\u2019s mission into motion,\u201d said Kim Derry, the college\u2019s senior director of philanthropy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The College of Education community also came together to win over $3,400 in prize money for different challenges. Of those, notably, the College of Education won the Most Faculty and Staff Gifts challenge during the 2 to 3 p.m. hour for the fifth straight year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI couldn\u2019t be prouder to be a part of the College of Education! Our donors, faculty, staff and students all deeply care for our college,&nbsp; and I cannot thank them enough for their continued generous support,\u201d&nbsp; Derry said.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Why They Gave<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As they made their gifts on Day of Giving, donors shared why they supported the College of Education. Here are some reasons why gave:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>&#8220;Education opens doors of opportunity. Support our future educators!&#8221;\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>&#8220;I am donating to this scholarship in honor of Crystal Chen Lee, a dear friend who dedicated her life\u2019s work to better the lives of others. May her work and efforts continue onwards!&#8221;\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>&#8220;I&#8217;m proud and happy to give to the NC State College of Education because this college supported me to obtain two Master of Education degrees and catapult my career for 34 years in public education.&#8221;\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>&#8220;The College of Education gave me a great foundation for my career in public education.
