during Think and Do the Extraordinary Campaign\n          <\/p>\n      <\/div>\n  <\/div>\n<\/aside>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI am humbled and amazed by the unprecedented level of support our college received during the Think and Do the Extraordinary Campaign\u2014and deeply grateful for all supporters who believe in our land-grant mission to advance the greater good,\u201d said Paola Sztajn, interim dean of NC State\u2019s College of Education. \u201cOur supporters have made it possible for us to emerge as North Carolina\u2019s #1 college of education and expand our ability to ensure all North Carolinians have the educational opportunities they need to achieve at their highest level. They have made not only a transformative impact on our college, but on all of North Carolina.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Gifts made to the College of Education during the Think and Do the Extraordinary Campaign, which concluded December 2021, have allowed the college to provide dozens more scholarships to recruit more students to the education profession and diversify the education workforce; establish new professorships to attract and retain leading scholars to the college; and launch new initiatives to enable the college to address urgent problems across the education spectrum and advance diversity, equity, and inclusion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Donors, for example, have allowed the college to establish the following because of their support of the Think and Do the Extraordinary Campaign:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/ced.ncsu.edu\/news\/2021\/06\/01\/with-7-25m-charitable-grant-from-anonymous-trust-nc-states-college-of-education-to-launch-transformational-scholarships-program-to-prepare-100-teachers-for-eastern-nc\/\">Transformational Scholarships Program<\/a>, which will prepare 100 teachers for Eastern North Carolina thanks to a $7.25 million charitable grant from the Anonymous Trust\u2014the largest gift the College of Education has received for student scholarships.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/ced.ncsu.edu\/news\/2016\/12\/21\/generous-gifts-support-college-of-education-campaign\/\">Goodnight Distinguished Professor in Educational Equity<\/a>, an endowed professorship established with a $1.5 million gift from Ann and Jim Goodnight to attract a field-leading faculty member to advance the college\u2019s commitment to equity and educational impact through groundbreaking research, teaching and service. Matching funds increased the gift\u2019s total to $2.1 million.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/ced.ncsu.edu\/news\/2018\/06\/04\/nc-state-education-receives-10-8m-grant-from-belk-endowment-to-enhance-its-support-of-community-colleges\/\">Belk Center for Community College Leadership and Research,<\/a> which allowed the college to enhance its support for community colleges across North Carolina and beyond with a $10.8 million grant from the John M. Belk Endowment\u2014the largest grant ever made to the college since records have been kept.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the campaign, the college also quadrupled its endowment from $2.8 million in 2016 to over $12 million through gifts that established endowed professorships, scholarships and programs. These include the&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/news.campaign.ncsu.edu\/2017\/02\/schout\/\">P.H. Cooper Professorship in STEM Education<\/a>;\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/ced.ncsu.edu\/news\/2019\/01\/22\/empowering-a-global-perspective\/\">Mary Ann Danowitz Study Abroad Endowment<\/a>;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/ced.ncsu.edu\/news\/2017\/05\/01\/3-new-scholarships-support-students-who-exemplify-college-of-educations-mission\/\">Council on Multicultural Initiatives and Diversity (COMID) Scholarship<\/a>;\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/ced.ncsu.edu\/news\/2017\/05\/01\/3-new-scholarships-support-students-who-exemplify-college-of-educations-mission\/\">Jo-Ann Cohen and Daniel Teague Mathematics Education Scholarship<\/a>;\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/news.campaign.ncsu.edu\/2020\/09\/new-nc-state-foundation-chair-is-leading-by-example\/\">Lori Freeze Constantino and Michael T. Constantino Extraordinary Opportunity Scholarship Endowment<\/a>;\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/ced.ncsu.edu\/news\/2020\/09\/10\/technology-engineering-and-design-education-student-lisset-botello-martinez-awarded-first-ever-nc-state-college-of-education-bob-davis-scholarship\/\">Bob Davis Scholarship Endowment<\/a>;\u00a0and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/ced.ncsu.edu\/news\/2021\/11\/23\/elementary-education-student-taylor-rowland-22-is-first-recipient-of-scholarship-honoring-teaching-professor-valerie-faulkner\/\">Valerie N. Faulkner Scholarship Endowment<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition, because of donors\u2019 gifts, the college now awards over $1 million a year in direct student support, which is double the amount awarded to students from the beginning of the campaign. With <a href=\"https:\/\/ced.ncsu.edu\/news\/2021-year-in-review\/\">a three-year average of $26 million in grants awarded<\/a>, the college\u2019s faculty and staff also generate the most research among colleges of education in the state.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe generosity of our donors and the tremendous success of the College of Education&#8217;s Think and Do the Extraordinary campaign have already begun to have a powerful impact that will continue well into the future,\u201d said Professor Mary Ann Danowitz, who served as the dean of the College of Education during much of the campaign from 2016 through October 2021. \u201cThe funds have been crucial in increasing the college&#8217;s enrollments to the highest level in at least a decade and in supporting a more diverse student population who will be prepared to transform education to create greater opportunities and improve lives for learners and communities in greatest need in North
