{"id":33944,"date":"2020-04-23T11:01:57","date_gmt":"2020-04-23T15:01:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ced.ncsu.edu\/news\/?page_id=33944"},"modified":"2021-07-12T16:48:29","modified_gmt":"2021-07-12T20:48:29","slug":"unpacking-k-5-math-for-caregivers-videocast","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/ced.ncsu.edu\/news\/unpacking-k-5-math-for-caregivers-videocast\/","title":{"rendered":"UnPACKing K-5 Math for Caregivers: A Videocast"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As parents and other caregivers work alongside teachers to help educate children at home during the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, NC State College of Education faculty with experience and expertise in elementary mathematics education have created a video series to help those caregivers better understand common K-5 mathematical concepts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Developed by mathematics education faculty in the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/ced.ncsu.edu\/tels\/\">Department of Teacher Education and Learning Sciences<\/a>, each UnPACKing K-5 Math for Caregivers installment will discuss a different mathematical topic and its importance in mathematical education, as well as provide tips for caregivers teaching the topic at home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Topics covered so far include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=gIZ-zBi_8Do&amp;feature=youtu.be\">Place Value: What is it?
