NC State College of Education Celebrates Grand Opening of Belk Center for Community College Leadership and Research

The NC State College of Education held an opening reception for its Belk Center for Community College Leadership and Research Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2019, at the center’s new location at 706 Hillsborough Street in Raleigh. Nearly 100 guests, including many statewide and community college leaders, attended the grand opening that marked the physical establishment of the Belk Center. 

NC State was ranked No. 84 college for education majors in the world by the Times Higher Education's World University Rankings.

NC State College of Education Moves Up 8 Spots in World University Rankings, Ranked No. 84 Internationally 

NC State University has been ranked No. 84 in the world in the 2020 Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings’ list of best colleges for education degrees. That is a jump of eight spots from last year when NC State debuted in the education category at No. 92 in the world.

NC State College of Education, NC State European Center Collaborate to Provide More Opportunities for Education Students to Study Abroad

NC State College of Education Dean Mary Ann Danowitz, the College of Education Global Programs Office and the NC State European Center in Prague have partnered in an effort to provide more academic opportunities for education students to study abroad in Prague. Danowitz recently visited Prague to discuss further collaboration efforts.

NC State: Home to Largest Teaching Fellows Cohort in N.C.

The NC State College of Education welcomed 54 new students to its North Carolina Teaching Fellows program this fall -- the largest entering cohort in the state. These new fellows join 20 other NC State students who composed the first cohort of Teaching Fellows at NC State since state legislators re-established the program in 2018. With 74 total Teaching Fellows, NC State is home to the largest group of Teaching Fellows in North Carolina, which is more than double the size of the next school.

New Student Enrollment Up for 3rd Straight Year, New Graduate Student Enrollment Jumps 27%

The college will welcome an expected 601 new undergraduate and graduate students when the 2019-20 academic year begins Wednesday, Aug. 21. That is an increase of 20% in new student enrollment from last year.

Empowering a Global Perspective

Mary Ann Danowitz, dean of NC State’s College of Education, has established a study abroad award fund to benefit future education professionals – and their students. The scholarship’s first awardee, Chantal Warfield, fulfilled her study abroad goals by traveling to the United Kingdom for a five-week STEM and liberal studies program.

NC State Education Ranked in Top 100 in THE World University Rankings

NC State University has been ranked No. 92 in the world for education degrees in the 2019 Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings. This is the first time NC State has been ranked in the education subject area since the World University Rankings added the category last year. “This international ranking reflects the extraordinary advancements the NC State College of Education has made to become one of the leading colleges of education in the U.S. and now the world,” NC State College of Education Dean Mary Ann Danowitz said.

NC State Education’s New Undergraduate Student Enrollment Jumps 29%

For the second year in a row, the NC State College of Education will open a new academic year with its largest incoming group of new undergraduate and graduate students since 2010. Among the 500 expected new students are 141 expected new undergraduate students, which is a 29 percent increase from last fall.
