Associate Professor Margareta Thomson marked the beginning of her U.S. Core Fulbright year by presenting her research project “Fostering Academic Motivation and a STEM Growth Mindset in High-Poverty Schools through Authentic Research Experiences” with education faculty, K-12 teachers and nonformal educators throughout Romania.

Achieving the Dream President and CEO Karen Stout to Deliver Dallas Herring Lecture Nov. 28

Dr. Karen Stout, the president and CEO of Achieving the Dream, will deliver the 2018 Dallas Herring Lecture Nov. 28 at the NC State College of Education’s Friday Institution for Educational Innovation. The title of her lecture is “The Urgent Case: Centering Teaching and Learning in the Next Generation of Community College Redesign.” Mary Rittling, president of Davidson County Community College, will provide the response to Stout’s lecture. NC State Education Ranked in Top 100 in THE World University Rankings

NC State University has been ranked No. 92 in the world for education degrees in the 2019 Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings. This is the first time NC State has been ranked in the education subject area since the World University Rankings added the category last year. “This international ranking reflects the extraordinary advancements the NC State College of Education has made to become one of the leading colleges of education in the U.S. and now the world,” NC State College of Education Dean Mary Ann Danowitz said.

In a new report, NC State College of Education Alumni Distinguished Graduate Professor Alyssa Rockenbach and her Interfaith Diversity Experiences & Attitudes Longitudinal Survey (IDEALS) team discuss common first-year college experiences associated with students’ interfaith learning and development. Interfaith Youth Core will host a free webinar on Oct. 23 to share ways to implement the new findings on college campuses nationwide.

That happened Sept. 28 to honor Ashley Lawson, a senior in mathematics education and NC State’s 10th Truman Scholar. “There are so many moments when my mentors, professors, friends and family saw my potential when I couldn’t and encouraged me to reach it. Thank you for pushing me to be my best self,” Lawson said.

$2 Million Grant from ECMC Foundation Will Enhance Research on Career and Technical Education

The ECMC Foundation has awarded the NC State College of Education a $2 million, three-year grant to enhance and strengthen postsecondary Career and Technical Education (CTE) research at universities nationwide through the establishment of the CTE Research Program at NC State-Sponsored by ECMC Foundation.
