College of Education Receives $85,600 from PowerSchool Education Fund to Help Teacher Candidates Cover Out-of-Pocket Expenses

NC State’s College of Education has received a gift of $85,600 from the PowerSchool Education Fund to provide students in its teacher preparation programs with financial assistance to help cover out-of-pocket expenses as they prepare to enter the classroom as teachers.

Trisha Mackey ’18MED Named Inaugural Director of College of Education’s Transformational Scholarships Program

Trisha Mackey ’18MED will be the inaugural director of the NC State College of Education’s Transformational Scholarships Program, effective Dec. 1. Currently, she serves as the academic and research coordinator with NC State’s TRIO Program and recently received the New Advisor of the Year Award from NC State’s Division of Academic and Student Affairs (DASA).

Mini-Grants Crowdfunding Campaign Raises Over $14,000 for Student Teachers to Equip Their Classrooms

During NC State’s first crowdfunding campaign in October, close to 90 donors came together to support the NC State College of Education’s Student Teacher Mini-Grants campaign, raising funds for student teachers to equip their classrooms with supplies such as books, science equipment and other materials.

Endowed Scholarship Established to Honor Former Dean Mary Ann Danowitz

NC State’s College of Education has established the Mary Ann Danowitz Scholarship in honor of its former dean thanks to donations from two lead donors and other stakeholders throughout the College of Education community. When combined with matching funds from NC State’s Extraordinary Opportunity Scholarship Initiative (EOSI), this scholarship endowment has a projected value of over $200,000. It will provide need-based scholarships for undergraduate students in the college.
