College of Education Faculty, Graduate Students Honored With Ebony Harlem Awards of Excellence

Several College of Education faculty and students were recognized during the Ebony Harlem Awards ceremony on April 25. Professor Joy Gaston Gayles, Ph.D., and Professor Marc Grimmett, Ph.D., each received awards while Assistant Professor Lisa Bass, Ph.D., and Associate Professor DeLeon Gray, Ph.D., received nominations. Graduate students Chelsea Smith ’22PHD and angela gay-audre also received awards.

Associate Professor and University Faculty Scholar DeLeon Gray, Ph.D., is partnering with Montclair State University on a new grant-funded project that aims to identify the qualities of belonging-centered instruction in mathematics classrooms and provide teachers with a guide to equity-focused instruction.

Assistant Professor Anna Egalite and Associate Professor DeLeon Gray have been named to NC State's 2019-20 class of University Faculty Scholars. These early- and mid-career faculty receive this designation due to their significant academic achievements and contributions to NC State through their teaching, scholarship and service to the university and greater community.

iScholars Win 1st Place in National School Design Competition

The SMART Collaborative’s iScholars received first place for their innovative school of the future in a national design competition hosted by the Association for Learning Environments. They will present their final design at the association’s national conference in Anaheim, California, in October.

Associate Professor DeLeon Gray Recognized in Thank a Teacher Program

NC State's Office of Faculty Development has named DeLeon Gray, an associate professor of educational psychology, one of the recipients of this year's Thank a Teacher award, which recognizes faculty's commitment to holistic student success. The Provost's Office recently talked with Gray about the honor -- and the doctoral student, Ashley Atkinson, who nominated him for the recognition.
