Lindsey Evans ’09 Celebrated as 2019-2020 Wake County Teacher of the Year

Lindsey Evans '09, an eighth-grade social studies teacher at Apex Friendship Middle School, was greeted with a school-wide celebration May 10 after being named the 2019-2020 Wake County Teacher of the Year.

Pre-service educators from the NC State College of Education get hands-on experience in informal learning through a partnership between the College and Raleigh’s Poe Center for Health Education, the only health education field trip destination of its kind in North Carolina.

A new study suggests that factoring kids into the climate equation might cut through political ideology. When North Carolina middle school students learned about climate change at school, their parents became much more concerned about it, according to the results of the NC State University research study published in Nature Climate Change this month. Associate Professor of Elementary Science Education Sarah Carrier was one of the study co-authors.
