New $1.8 Million NSF Grant to Support NC State Education Project on Math Teacher Preparation

Hollylynne Lee, professor and university faculty scholar at the NC State College of Education, will use the grant to continue her team’s work on improving the way preservice mathematics teachers prepare to enter their classrooms, specifically how to utilize students’ mathematical thinking in technology-rich environments.

NC State College of Education faculty were awarded $12,443,243 to support nine research projects in June, July and August. In FY 2018, faculty have received $25,820,890 in awards so far.

Matt Friedrick ’13MED, ‘16MBA, a longtime development and program director and former classroom teacher who has served on multiple education boards and task forces, will join the NC State College of Education Sept. 10 as its executive director of development.

The Fulbright Laspau Award recipient began her doctoral program in educational psychology this fall and will be working with Fulbright Scholar recipient and NC State Education Associate Professor Margareta Thomson on research involving academic motivation.

Teaching Assistant Professor Michelle Bartlett received the Wagner Innovation Award at the 2018 Distance Learning Administration conference in June. She's the program coordinator of the 100 percent online Training and Development master’s and certificate programs.

4 NC State Education Faculty Receive DELTA 2018-2019 Grants

DELTA awarded more than $240,000 in new and continuing DELTA Grants to 29 recipients across the NC State University, including four in the NC State College of Education: Michelle Bartlett, Jessica Hunt, Jamie Pearson and Meghan Manfra. They will collaborate with DELTA to create solutions to instructional challenges that promote the use of instructional technology and course design.
