NC State Education Receives $7.5+ Million in Research Grants Between April-May 2018

NC State College of Education faculty were awarded $7,749,144 to support five research projects in April and May. In FY 2018, faculty have received $13,276,765 in awards so far.

“There became this kind of climate where folks really felt like teachers are being disrespected, schools are being disrespected,” Michael Maher, assistant dean for professional education, told Fox News about Wednesday's March For Students and Rally for Respect. “And that kind of came on the heels of the recession, and if you follow what happened in North Carolina, we were hit pretty hard by the recession.”

That’s how much money the typical middle and high school science teacher spends out of pocket each year on science lab materials. The $450 figure is based on a study Graduate Research Assistant Emily Cayton and Professor Gail Jones recently conducted to determine if science teachers have adequate funding to teach laboratories and science investigations.
