CathrynLippard

In December, we recognize and congratulate our students who will receive their degrees during fall commencement.

To celebrate their achievements, we’ll feature some of our outstanding students and share their postgraduation plans throughout the month.

Cathryn Lippard is an undergraduate student studying in the Department of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Education. She will graduate this December with a degree in middle school math education.

When did you begin your studies at NC State? Fall 2012

What has been your best memory during your time here? My best memory at NC State has been the sporting events. I’ve always been a huge NC State sports fan, but never had the opportunity to attend games. When I was able to finally go to them, I was ecstatic!

Being with all of my friends and fellow NC State fans to cheer on our Wolfpack has definitely been the best and most memorable experience for me.

What do you plan to do after graduation? Since I’m graduating in December, I plan to take the spring semester to substitute teach in order to experience more schools in Wake County and determine the best fit. Following that, I will apply for teaching jobs for the 2016-17 school year.

How do you think the College of Education has prepared you for a career after graduation? The College of Education’s courses have prepared me in many different ways. I’ve learned how to utilize technology, various methods of teaching, classroom management tips and much more. The college has also given me multiple opportunities to be in the classroom, in addition to student teaching.

All of these things together have prepared me to be the best beginning teacher that I can be, leading to a successful career following graduation.
