PD 677 – Childhood Bereavement

March 22, 2018 | 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

An estimated 2 million children experience the death of a parent under the age of 17. When a child or young person experiences the death of someone important to them, they need to adapt to the challenges of a changed life in the outside world. The response from school will be at the center of that. The role of a teacher and the school is really important for grieving children. In this workshop, we will take a look at the grief process of children in different development stages, the theory behind grief in young children, and the support you can give as a teacher.
