Participate in a “Mursion” session practicing how you will talk to parents and work on issues together. The “parent” you meet with will be a computer avatar. Scenario: You are a teacher of Jasmine, an 8th grader who usually has excellent scores in math. Lately, her math grades have been low. Her mother, Linda Walker, has scheduled a conference to discuss her academic progress. Your objectives are to practice active listening to understand Linda’s concerns; jointly identify potential contributing factors to Jasmine’s change in academic performance, and jointly identify next steps. You will also have a chance to debrief and discuss the experience. NOTE: this PGU is limited to only 10 participants!
