{"id":453,"date":"2015-08-27T13:19:24","date_gmt":"2015-08-27T17:19:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ced.ncsu.edu\/elphd-updated\/about\/outreach-and-engagement\/"},"modified":"2026-09-17T15:42:01","modified_gmt":"2026-09-17T19:42:01","slug":"outreach-and-engagement","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/ced.ncsu.edu\/elphd\/about\/outreach-and-engagement\/","title":{"rendered":"Outreach and Engagement"},"content":{"rendered":"\n\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Faculty are committed to extension and engagement activities in K-12 schools, higher education settings, community organizations, and the workplace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1 wp-block-paragraph\">Our most important contributions are our role with the <a href=\"https:\/\/belk-center.ced.ncsu.edu\/\">Belk Center for Community College Leadership and Research<\/a>. In partnership with the North Carolina Community College system, we work to build the skills of front-line academic administrators in the state\u2019s 58 community colleges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition, ELPHD&nbsp;is home to the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/nilie.ncsu.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">National Initiative for Leadership &amp; Institutional Effectiveness (NILIE)<\/a>. By conducting research on leadership and institutional effectiveness using specialized surveys, NILIE assists Institutions in developing strategies that improve student success through collaborative leadership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">ELPHD\u00a0also offers a master\u2019s in School Administration through\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nela.ced.ncsu.edu\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/nela.ced.ncsu.edu\/\">Northeast Leadership Academy (NELA)<\/a>, an innovative school leader preparation program designed to develop principals as instructional leaders who drive improvements in student achievement in northeast North Carolina&#8217;s rural, high-need schools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.ced.ncsu.edu\/ccerc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Community Counseling, Education, and Research Center<\/a> (CCERC) at the&nbsp;Wade Edwards Foundation and Learning Laboratory (WELL)&nbsp;provides short-term and affordable counseling services to individuals, couples, and families that focus on healthy personal, emotional, social, and career development through our Counselor Education Program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We also contribute to and support<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/oe.ncsu.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NC State\u2019s outreach, extension, and economic development programs<\/a>&nbsp;for the people, businesses, and communities of North Carolina.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Study-abroad opportunities through the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/studyabroad.ncsu.edu\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/studyabroad.ncsu.edu\/\">NC State Study Abroad office<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Peer-reviewed research in national publications, including the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/journals.sagepub.com\/home\/crw\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/journals.sagepub.com\/home\/crw\/\"><em>Community College Review<\/em><\/a>, a national journal of research about community colleges whose editorial board is led by ELPHD\u00a0faculty.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Faculty are committed to extension and engagement activities in K-12 schools, higher education settings, community organizations, and the workplace.
