2020 B.U.I.L.D. Summit

Brothers United in Leadership Development Summit

In light of NC State University’s decision to extend spring break, cancel events and encourage social distancing to minimize the spread of COVID-19, the College of Education at North Carolina State University has decided to cancel the 2020 BUILD Summit, originally scheduled for March 28, 2020. Due to the fluidity of this unprecedented time in our country as well as our desire to support everyone’s health and safety, we do not intend to reschedule this event during this academic year.

We understand that this news may be disappointing for many, and we apologize for any inconvenience that this cancellation may have caused. As of now, we do plan to host the B.U.I.L.D. Summit in 2021, and hope that you will be able to attend at that time. If you are interested in being notified about next year’s B.U.I.L.D. Summit , please click here.

We thank you for your dedication to the BUILD Summit, and hope that you will remain an active supporter of this College of Education hosted event moving forward.

Vision 2020: Building Confidence,
Community, and Connections

The Brothers United in Leadership Development (B.U.I.L.D.) Summit, presented by the NC State College of Education, is an annual event designed to expose 9th-11th grade high school male students, particularly male students of color, to the diverse role of leaders in a growing global society. The 2020 B.U.I.L.D. Summit — the theme of which is Vision 2020: Building Confidence, Community, and Connections — will be held on Saturday, March 28, in Poe Hall on NC State’s main campus.

Through the B.U.I.L.D. Summit, students will engage in activities that will help to enhance their leadership skills, personal development, and career and college readiness. They will also have the opportunity to interact with campus leaders, community partners and peers.

Registration Information

For students interested in attending the event, please complete the Student Registration Form. Parents/guardians must also complete the Parent/Guardian Permission Form to provide permission for their student to attend the event, as well as to consent to the public relations waiver. If we do not receive a Parent/Guardian Permission Form for a student who has submitted the Student Registration Form, the parent/guardian will be notified separately by the B.U.I.L.D. Planning Committee to encourage their submission. Both the Student Registration Form and the Parent/Guardian Permission Form must be submitted online in order for the student to be considered for participation.

There are 100 spaces available for participants to attend the event, which are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. The forms will be reviewed in the order in which they are received. Confirmed participants will be notified via email of their registration status and given further event details closer to the event date.
