Professional Semester
Professional Semester is also known as Student Teaching, the capstone experience of your education program.
To be admitted to Professional Semester you must meet the following requirements:

Overall GPA is at least 2.50

Content Area GPA is at least 2.50

Professional Studies GPA is at least 2.50

You must have been admitted to candidacy at least 1 full semester prior to the Professional Semester.

You must have accumulated at least 92 credit hours.

You must have passed all courses required by your department with a grade of C- or better.

You must receive 2 recommendations on the Application to Professional Semester.
You must apply for Professional Semester. Along with the application, you must also complete the Triangle Alliance Form and the Health Form. All teacher candidates applying for the Professional Semester must also pass a criminal record check.
After you have completed your Professional Semester, you must apply for a license in order to be certified to teach in the state of North Carolina.
You need to complete the following forms to apply for a license:
- Form 1 – Candidate for Professional Licensure Data Form
- Form A – Application for a North Carolina License
