special education

The MAT in Special Education is for people with a bachelor’s degree who want to attain the master’s degree and North Carolina initial teacher licensure in special education, General Curriculum.

This General Curriculum licensure enables our MAT graduates to teach special education students identified with emotional disability, learning disability, or intellectual disability (mild to moderate disability only).

A minimum of 33 credit hours of graduate study is required, and most people will complete those 33 credit hours. Participants may enroll part-time or full-time, beginning in Summer, Fall, or Spring Semesters. Many courses are offered off-campus or online, at reduced cost.
