The MAT to teach secondary English is offered to those who hold a bachelor's degree with an English concentration of at least 24 hours, not counting freshman composition. If an applicant is near the 24 hours, he or she can take up to 9 more hours at graduate or undergraduate level to fulfill the English content area.
