International Transcripts

International Transcripts & Applicants with Bachelor's Degrees from non-U.S. Colleges or Universities

For any coursework completed outside of the U.S., official transcripts (no photocopies or notarized copies) AND an official “course-by-course” evaluation must be submitted from an accredited foreign credential evaluation service. The official evaluation must include course, grade, and credit equivalents in U.S. terms. In addition, the overall grade point average (GPA) must be indicated, and it must be at least 2.50 on the NC State scale. We will use the credit evaluation to determine your academic admissibility. NC State recommends using one of the following International Transcript Review Agencies below.

All applicants with a degree from a non-U.S. institution must take the Internet version of the Test of English as a Foreign Langauage (TOEFL iBT). The minimum passing score is 100 with minimum passing scores of 20 on the listening, reading and writing sections and 26 on the speaking section. OFFICIAL proof of passing scores must be submitted with the application (NCSU recipient code: 5496). Scores must be for the TOEFL iBT internet-based test, not the paper-based test, and must be within the last 5 years. See http://www.toefl.org for information. Based on an interview and/or transcript review, additional evidence of English proficiency may be required.
