Application Process
1. Read the website. Before you do anything else, read through the material on this website carefully. It covers everything from the structure of the NC TEACH at NC State program to the types of courses you might take as an NC TEACHer. Familiarize yourself with the details of the program.
2. Check your eligibility. Applicants to the program must meet a number of eligibility requirements in order to be considered. Make sure you're eligible!
3. Apply. Applying is easy with our online application. Please note that you must complete your application electronically and supplementary application material must be mailed.
A complete application includes the following:
-
Online application form (Please note that your online application will not be reviewed until your supplementary packet has been received. See instructions below.)
- Supplementary Application
Please mail the following supplementary application materials in ONE package to

Candidates are required to submit an essay as part of the application. The essay must be between 400 and 600 words addressing the following prompt: Why do you want to be a teacher? What experiences have led you to want to teach in a public school in North Carolina?
*Please include in your response any volunteer or employment experience you may have working with children and/or young adults.
This essay provides us with information not captured elsewhere in the application. This should not be a general philosophy of teaching but should offer insight on why you are applying to teach.
Note: Your application cannot be reviewed until all materials (both online and supplementary) are received.
4. Wait for a decision.
Based on the strengths of your application, NC TEACH will decide whether or not you are right for the program. Early admission decisions will be made by October 1, 2009. Final admissions decisions will be made by November 2, 2009. In general, you can expect to hear from us via email by October 6, 2009 for early application decisions and by November 6, 2009 for regular application decisions.
Note: Candidates may be asked to interview with the NC TEACH staff on an as-needed basis.
