2009 Parks Todd Award Winner

April 17, 2009-- The North Carolina Distance Learning Association (NCDLA) has awarded Dr. Diane Chapman, its 2009 Parks Todd Award for Distinguished Service to the Field of Distance Learning. The award is presented annually to recognize individuals who are leaders in planning, implementing, and
managing distance learning programs in North Carolina, have shown leadership in extending the reach of distance learning programs, and have furthered the role of distance learning in the NC educational community.

Parks Todd was a pioneer in the field of distance learning in North Carolina. His commitment to this work began in early 1987 when he was introduced to the statewide distance learning system - EDNET; the North
Carolina Educational Network. Through his efforts, the staff development office provided educational and learning opportunities statewide. The Governor*s Office requested Parks to serve on the first committee
tasked to explore applications and the implementation of what is now the North Carolina Information Highway. Through years of public service in distance learning, Parks Todd symbolized innovation, commitment, and dedication to learning anywhere and anytime.
