• Dr. Park received his Master's Degree in Science Education from The Ohio State University in 1981 while teaching science in a rural school in west-central Ohio. He came to North Carolina State University upon completing his Ph.D. from Ohio State in 1985. Dr. Park was inducted into the Academy of Outstanding Teachers at NCSU in 1991. He was inducted into Sigma Xi in 1992 and was inducted into Phi Kappa Phi in 1993. In 1995, Dr. Park was named Alumni Distinguished Undergraduate Professor, and in 1996 he was the nominee of the College of Education and Psychology for the Board of Governors' Award for Excellence in Teaching. He has been actively involved in obtaining funding for and teaching in-service courses since coming to NCSU. One major project funded by NSF is called "Team Science," an in-service project to teach and equip rural school teachers to use computer technology to facilitate learning concepts in the physical sciences.

• Dr. Park is active in several professional organizations. The majority of his professional efforts have been directed in the American Association of Physics Teachers, where he has served and chaired several committees, including the Committee on Apparatus and the Committee on Instructional Media. He has also directed several national competitions through the organization. Dr. Park has delivered invited and contributed papers at the national meetings of AAPT, as well as NARST, AETS, SSMA, NSTA and at the statewide annual NCSTA meeting.

• Dr. Park's thematic research topic is investigating student learning while interacting with visual technologies such as microcomputer-based laboratories and interactive video. He investigates the effects of hands-on activities on learning and performance at all levels of the physical sciences. His research methodologies include experimental design, surveys and clinical interviews.
