Field Trip Earth (http://www.fieldtripearth.org) is the newest conservation education website available from the North Carolina Zoological Society. FTE makes it possible for students to actively participate in conservation projects by supporting interactions with wildlife professionals. It also provides classrooms with an array of resources including narratives, photos, maps, and videoclips to support instruction. Educators at all levels and in all disciplines also benefit from the site's "Educator Resources" section, which features a long list of model classroom strategies and detailed information for executing each using resources available on the site.

The first half of the workshop will be a hands-on exploration of the instructional resources available on FTE. The latter half will focus on generating ideas for implementing the site in the classroom, and will require both hands-on work and individual/small-group brainstorming. Participants are also expected to complete a series of follow-up activities (all conducted online) that require them to integrate the website into a classroom experience, reflect on that integration process and, finally,
participate in a brief evaluation of the website and the training.

Mark MacAllister coordinates Field Trip Earth; while with the Chatham County Schools, he also worked on "The Elephants of Cameroon" and "The Red Wolves of Alligator River," the Zoo's other conservation education websites. For additional questions about the training content, you can contact Mark: markmacallister@mac.com

Thanks to Patsy Hester [PHESTER@wcpss.net] & WCPSS for assistance!

Certificate of attendance will be available for other LEAs for technology renewal credit.
