Site Preparation

Begin thinking about how you would like to design your web page.

  • How will those viewing it benefit from the experience?
  • Will your web design be primarily for observations or will there be a more structured interaction?
  • Will interaction include surveys or forms?

In order to save time and prevent unnecessary mistakes, each of these questions should be answered or at least considered before designing your site.

Also, be sure to visit the College of Education to view the websites of other faculty and staff to learn more about what others have included on their websites.

Contact Learning Technologies in the College of Education after reviewing this tutorial for additional questions. Learning Technologies will be able to answer your questions about the ins-and-outs of basic webpage design.

Beginning Tips

  • Create a website folder for each website you create.
  • This folder houses all images and documents related to your website.
  • ORGANIZING FILES FIRST eliminates broken images and errors from appearing on your site when it's being viewed.
