Ligon students participate in various aspects of the project. Journalism students record class lists and collect oral histories from the Ligon High School alumni. Selected sixth grade science students investigate tree rings cut from large oak trees cut from the property during renovation and create a display called "If Trees Could Talk" to connect the history of the school to the growth of the tree. Wake County Heritage students report on buildings of historical significance in the downtown Raleigh area. Students in Satellites, Computers, and Mapping document change over time using GIS technology. The Ligon Historians class record the history of Chavis Heights. |
