Licensing Mac OS X

AMP
The UNC General Administration has established a volume license agreement called the Apple Maintenance Program (AMP) which encompasses the entire UNC System.

Under AMP, departments can lease Mac OS X for three years for $59. Major upgrades (example, upgrading from 10.3 Panther to 10.4 Tiger) are free during this period. At the end of the program, departments must either remove the software from computers or for $20 per seat buy a perpetual license for the then current version of OS X. (Or, assuming the UNC GA renews the VLA, departments can subscribe to the new VLA for 3 more years.) Media cost an additional $15 per set.

Faculty, staff and students wishing to purchase Mac OS X for home use should contact NCSU Bookstore Computing Sales at 515-3400 for prices.

Further details and an online order form can be found on ITD's Macintosh Support page.
