Distance Education

We offer distance education graduate degrees, certificates, and teacher licensure programs in our core academic strengths. Our Distance Education programs are the full equivalent of our campus programs; they receive the same accreditation as campus programs and are taught by NC State faculty. They provide maximum schedule flexibility, allowing you to enhance your current workplace skills or prepare for a new career. This is particularly important for students who are unable to attend campus-based classes due to geographic location, work schedules, or other life circumstances. Delivery methods vary as programs may be off campus or online.

Masters: Educational Leadership

NC State’s program in Educational Leadership for school administrators is designed to improve the quality of K-12 schools by preparing leaders who are dedicated to educational excellence and equity. 

Masters: Elementary Education

The Master of Education (MEd) and Master of Science (MS) programs in Elementary Education are designed for those who already hold a current teaching certificate. 

Masters: New Literacies and Global Learning

This distance education program is aimed at increasing teachers’ capacity for teaching reading, English language arts or social studies in a rapidly changing world. 

Masters: Science Education

This distance education graduate program is intended for pre-college teachers (Grades 6-12), community college instructors, and informal educators or others who work in areas of science education.

Technology Education graduates are mentored to assume leadership roles that allow them to make significant differences in professions that encompass technology. 

Doctorate: Adult and Community College Education

The structure of the program allows professionals to balance work responsibilities with academic commitments for a degree that can be completed in under four years.

Teacher Licensure

Licensure: Business & Marketing Ed

The Initial Licensure Program in Business and Marketing Education is a 12-credit hour online program designed specifically for provisional licensed teachers currently in a Business and Marketing classroom. 

Masters of Arts in Teaching

The MAT program is an accelerated teacher licensure program that leads its graduates to both an initial teaching license and a Master’s degree in as little as a year and a half (full time). 

Lateral Entry: NC Teach

North Carolina Teachers of Excellence for All Children (NC TEACH) is designed to recruit, train, support, and retain mid-career professionals as they become licensed teachers in North Carolina.
