Master's of Education in English (M.Ed., 36 hours)
Master's of Science of Education in English (M.S., Ed. 39 hours, includes thesis)

The Department of Curriculum and Instruction offers two options for the Master's Degree:
Masters of Education (M.Ed.) without a thesis = 36 hours
Master's of Science of Education (M.S.Ed.) with a thesis = 39 hours
If one plans to continue on in a doctoral study, the M.S.Ed. is recommended.
Both options can lead to "M" license for teaching English grades 9-12.

Prerequisites

To become licensed for teaching secondary English at the graduate level, individuals must already hold, or are qualified to hold, an "A" license (initial), and must complete a master of education degree.
