Counselor Education: Masters Degree Program College Counseling

Master's Degree Concentration Area

In this concentration, the master's degree prepares persons for entry level positions in college counseling and in related areas such as admissions, registration and records, residence life, career planning and placement, financial aid, student activities, the student union, housing, and the international student office.

The concentration will also serve as a strong foundation for those seeking a doctoral degree in order to obtain positions of leadership in the above mentioned agencies or as college counselors. The faculty and students enjoy an excellent relationship with professionals in the NC State Division of Student Affairs, and many opportunities for relevant experiences are provided through assistantships and internships.

ECD 535 Student Development in Higher Education
ECD 543 The American College Student
ECD 652 Internship in College Student Development

Other course work will be tailored to the individual's needs and occupational aspirations.
