Counselor Education: Masters Degree Program School Counseling

Master's Degree Concentration Area

Professionals prepared in this area work as counselors in public and private school settings serving their human developmental role. The concentration is designed to meet school counseling licensure requirements for North Carolina and the standards of the Council for the Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP).

Graduates of the concentration are eligible to sit for the National Counselor Examination, a step in the process of becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in North Carolina.

Those who wish to obtain school counselor licensure from other states should contact them to determine requirements. This is particularly important for those persons who do not have a teaching certificate; this is a requirement in some states.
