Teaching

My teaching philosophy is to strive to be excellent in every aspect of instruction and to have the same expectation for all students as it relates to their involvement in class. I am committed to the NC State College of Education mission of preparing professionals to work in diverse social contexts and empowering students to make a difference through educational excellence, technological competence, and advocacy. Additionally, I hope to model a healthy professional lifestyle, carefully balancing professional and personal responsibilities, in order to preserve my psychological, emotional, physical and spiritual well-being; providing an example of health and wellness to students as they transition into becoming professionals.

Finally, I hope to cultivate a profound sensitivity to and awareness of multiculturalism and social justice. I believe it to be my ethical responsibility to help all of my students reach their potential and to prepare them to fully engage and successfully operate in an increasingly culturally diverse and globally connected world. This task is enormous, yet as an educator, it is imperative that I keep the information that I share with students current, relevant, and useful in today’s interconnected global economy.
